The Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium (MMHRDC) invites us (CLHRDC) to send participants to the Training-Workshop on Animal Care and Use in Research and Animal Biosafety. This will be held at the UP Manila National Institutes of Health Centennial Conference Room on January 26-27, 2012. This training-workshop is a capacity building initiative of MMHRDC intended for investigators and research advisers involved in researches involving the use of animals. A certificate of training, will be provided to the participants after the completion of the course. .
The objectives of the course are as follows:
a. To promote awareness on the regulations and policies on animal care and use in research;
b. To promote a culture of biosafety in the animal laboratory
c. To capacitate participants with working knowledge and techniques in animal care and use as well as biosafety in the animal laboratory
Among topics for this course include:
* Republic Act 8485: Animal Welfare Act and other regulations
* Role of institutions, investigators and the IACUC
* Housing and animal care requirements
* Techniques and procedures in blood collection, drug administration and euthanasia
* Principles of Biosafety, Animal Biosafety Levels, Practices, Primary and Secondary Containment
To optimize participant learning during the workshops, they are limiting the number of participants.
